A new book for hard times

How many of us have wished the last 18 months away, hoping this whole COVID mess would go away?

I put my hand up and plead guilty.

But here we are.

The last time I blogged was 11 months ago. I had nothing to say about the situation that hadn’t been said by wiser, clever people than me about how hard it all was. I was out of feelings, tears and frustration.

The brief reprieve of the spread of the virus allowed us a normal Christmas and summer in Australia and I even managed to pop on a plane twice between November and May. And now? Well, here we are in lockdown again as Delta has its way with the world.

It felt unrealistic to write a book with no masks, social distancing, hand sanitiser but in the end I pushed through and wrote something that resembles life before 2020. This is a book about second chances and hope. I think we all need some of that right now. I don’t want to make anyone have to read what we have all gone through and are still going through.

When I write my books I try hard to bring something to the story that shows the best of humanity and the power of change both in people and the world.

My lead in Pudding Hall is a lovely woman called Christa who knows what matters in life. She knows what it is to go without and also what it means to value what you do have. I like her so very much. She’s one of my fave characters so far.

I suppose this book is about finding your values and finding love for your passion and your self. I wanted to write it to give you something to hope for. Something to enjoy as we head towards Christmas. Something to inspire baking and putting up your Christmas trees and something to remind you to give a little to the world if you can.

I send everyone love who is reading this and who reads my books. I am grateful, honoured and I promise to still keep trying to bring some light into readers lives with my stories.

Much love,

Kate
