Lucky New Year

I have has been watching Marie Kondo, and her new show Tidying Up, on Netflix. She is super kawaii and talks to your house before she moves things. I have yet to see her open her eyes after a house greeting and say, “GTFO of here, this house is possessed.” Apparently every house has a warm energy, which is encouraging.

I will say what I like about the show is low conflict. This isn’t a Wife Swap, Super Nanny scream fest. It’s gentle and kind and what we need more off. Less stuff, more kindness. As a result of the fours episodes, I have started to reevaluate the things I have and the clutter around me. It’s natural to view your space through the eyes of the declutterer’s in the show, but I can certainly get rid of more stuff.

I have done my bedroom, and the cookbooks and the garage. This weekend, I will do the kitchen, which will be hideous, as I have Tupperware that has born lids but no bottoms and I think they’re coming to kill me.

Meanwhile, I am working and writing, and gardening and hanging with my kids and reading and trying to do morning pages most days. It is helping me clear my head of stuff, consider it Marie Kondo for the mind.

I have also been following triplets families on Instagram, because triplets are amazing. I love the babies of Katie, the Triplet Mum of Four, whose daughters are without a doubt, the cutest dollfaces I have ever seen. Maybe it’s because my new book is about triplet sisters? I am unsure. Anyway, these babies make me laugh and laugh.

Babies are always a mood lifter.

Happy January to you and yours.
